1) Mercury Preservatives Still Being Used:
Vials of flu vaccine produced by British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) were reported to have been found by the Natural News Forensic Food Lab to contain upwards of 51 parts per million of mercury, or 25,000 times the legal maximum for drinking water established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The presence of mercury in flu vaccines is not an internet myth, it is a stone cold FACT. Thimerosal, a mercury derivative, is still added to flu vaccines as a preservative. This is established and authoritative: Each 0.5-mL dose from the multi-dose vial contains 50 mcg thimerosal ( < 25 mcg mercury).
What’s crazy is that despite it being well known that mercury is a highly toxic substance – a cumulative neurotoxin – pro-vaccine advocates insist that the mercury in the vaccines is completely safe! I am sorry, but I do not think there is such a thing as a safe dose of mercury. The FDA’s maximum allowable limit in seafood is 1 part per million, and in drinking water 2 parts per billion.
Thiomersal has been controversial for a long time, yet is still legal. In 1999, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) actually asked vaccine makers to remove thiomersal (spelled “thimerosal” in the US) from vaccines as quickly as possible. Well, we’re still waiting! Thiomersal has been phased out of many US and European vaccines (why was this done, if it is so safe?), but is still used in some preparations of influenza vaccine.
Why is this still legal? It’s insane. The other problem area for mercury in the medical arena was dentistry. I will never forget a documentary from the 1980’s which outed the nefarious practice of using mercury in dental fillings – and how it exposed people to a lifetime’s continual low-dose of mercury that leached from the fillings gradually over time.
Nice. It turns out that dentists used to put these fillings in childrens mouths sometimes even when they did not have decay! I know this because I was one of them. “Unnatural grooves” in my teeth had to be filled, apparently. The mercury went in my mouth and the money went in their pockets.
2) Numerous Reports Of Side Effects:
Can the flu shot give people flu? Despite the CDC’s assurances that a flu vaccine cannot possibly cause flu illness, a very large number of people are convinced that the flu shot actually gives them the flu! Time and time again (so many times it’s not even funny) I have read negative comments from people with regards to flu shots – either stating that it gave them flu or had other (sometimes serious) side effects. Is this a form of collective hysteria? Or is there something to it? Here are some that I have collected from Facebook comments. Why is nothing being done about this?
Barbara Benayoun: “Got the flu shot in 1995 woke up paralyzed a week later after taking my flu shot so I called 911. And 2 hours later I had a cardiac arrest and went into a coma for 3 months and spent a year in the hospital paralyzed from head to toes. It took me 3 years to learn how to walk and talk ! My immune got shutdown and my nervous system. Changed my life, I was a healthy young woman… took the flu shot for my training gymnastic license when u deal with kids it was a requirement! Yup my flu shot experience!!!!!”
David Emblom: “Got my 1st flu shot a few days ago. Never had the flu before. Currently, portraying symptoms of the flu.”
Jenny Coleman: “Flu shot always made me very ill. Don’t get Ill since I stopped having it.”
Gemma Martin Weeks: “I had the flu jab about 15 yr ago and I was rushed into A&E. I couldn’t move or walk. I had signs of meningitis.”
Sonny Willoughby: “Got a free flu shot sick for 2 weeks never again”
There are scores of these comments and anyone can see them for themselves. On the Facebook pages I manage and on others that I investigate, whenever there is a post about flu shots, this is the pattern. The amount of positive comments is probably less than 1 in 10.
What’s wrong with this picture? Everything. How is it even possible that so many people are claiming bad reactions to the flu shot and yet it is still so confidently stated as safe?
It seems akin to a form of collective insanity where the people blindly do what the medical professionals tell them to do, and the medical professionals dare not question “the authorities” because to even doubt would cast them as ignorant. I’ve come across this type of thing before. It’s like a religion…
3) Some Scientific Studies Show No Effectiveness Of Flu Vaccines:
A study published in the October 2008 issue of the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine found that vaccinating young children against the flu had no impact on flu-related hospitalizations or doctor visits during two recent flu seasons. The researchers concluded that “significant influenza vaccine effectiveness could not be demonstrated for any season, age, or setting” examined.
A 2008 study published in the Lancet found that influenza vaccination was NOT associated with a reduced risk of pneumonia in older people. This also supports an earlier study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine.
Research published in the 2008 American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine also confirms that there has been no decrease in deaths from influenza and pneumonia in the elderly, despite the fact that vaccination coverage among the elderly has increased from 15 percent in 1980 to 65 percent now. “The 51% reduction in mortality with vaccination initially observed in patients with pneumonia who did not have influenza was most likely a result of confounding. Previous observational studies may have overestimated mortality benefits of influenza vaccination.”
In 2007, researchers with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the National Institutes of Health published this conclusion in the Lancet: “We conclude that frailty selection bias and use of non-specific endpoints such as all-cause mortality have led cohort studies to greatly exaggerate vaccine benefits. The remaining evidence base is currently insufficient to indicate the magnitude of the mortality benefit, if any, that elderly people derive from the vaccination programme.”
A large-scale, systematic review of 51 studies, published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews in 2006, found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo in children under 2. The studies involved 260,000 children, age 6 to 23 months.
4) Herbal And Natural Alternative Remedies:
For legal reasons, we cannot make actual medicinal recommendations of any kind whatsoever – and so our official line is “talk to your doctor”.
That being said, we have collected information about alternative and home remedies that some people are reporting benefits from.
One last safety tip: Wash your hands.
